Fincastle hardscape overview
How do you make new stonework feel right for the property?
Begin with the role of the work and the character you want, then compare materials that suit the actual use and site. New stonework does not need an invented history or an exact match to feel appropriate. Scale, color range, joint character, edge treatment, planting, and transitions can create a deliberate relationship with the property.
Fincastle site planning
Should the stonework recede, frame, connect, or support?
Photograph nearby masonry and the whole project setting. Include routes, grade, vegetation, and the surfaces the new work would meet.
01
Describe the desired character
Use plain words such as quiet, defined, informal, tailored, rugged, or restrained instead of relying on a single inspiration image.
02
Show the complete movement path
For steps and walks, include the start, destination, width, turns, elevation changes, and the way the route is used.
03
Separate purpose from appearance
Clarify whether a wall retains grade, frames planting, creates seating, marks an edge, or combines several functions.
